Free International Music School

The purpose of the Free International Music School is to introduce music to children and young people from all around the world, regardless of their social background. The goal is to enable them to learn to play a musical instrument and to communicate freely through music. Being able to play a musical instrument can help children- especially those from conflict areas- to cope with daily life.

The association was created by the music director and pianist Daniel Barenboim. The Barenboim-Said Foundation has financed the Free International Music School's project in Palestine since September 2003. Professional musicians from the association give free lessons at schools, kindergartens and in the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine.

The Free International Music School is a non profit association which is financed by donations.
